How to play with counting rhymes

Clap the beat

One clap for every syllable: se, ven. That way a rhyme practises counting and syllables at once.

Count on your fingers

Raise one finger for every number. Five little fingers and Drip, drop were made for exactly that.

Whose turn is it?

A counting rhyme can pick who starts a game: whoever is pointed at on the last word goes first.

Say it again

Children love the same rhyme a hundred times. Every repeat makes the order of numbers stick.
